Mysterious Shore
(World of Warcraft inspired Art Environment)
Introduction
Mysterious Shore is a 3D fantasy environment inspired by the Night Elven populated shores and forests regions from the game World of Warcraft by Activision Blizzard™. The aim was to capture the wispy, melancholic and mystifying feel of the "Darkshore" zone in particular, which has been an iconic area in the Warcraft universe since early on.

The visuals on the grounds, which includes the rocks, trees and housing parts were all applied with hand-painted looking textures to mimic the popular stylization of the game it was based on. The Material Editor in the Unreal Engine was used to create the flowing water effects. The editor was also used to create a landscape material, connecting all the landscape tiles with each other, allowing to paint the landscape layers. Most meshes were created to be either very small or very large in scale in order to give the landscape a colossal feeling by contrast, when venturing through as a Player. Polygon counts on all objects were kept low, in order to ensure and accommodate fluid gameplay on even the lowest of processing units and graphic cards on the end spectrums.

Post Processing effects were used at the end to help exaggerate the environment's fantastical and mysterious mood even further.
